In “Rima Kamel“, Rabih Mroué traces the early career of the Lebanese singer Rima Khcheich. Khcheich and her former persona, the child singer Rima Kamel, enter into a dialogue. Together they embark on a journey into the past, all the way back to childhood and an archive of memories. With reference to the individual history of a single person, Mroué shows how biographies are always marked by the cultural and political situation of a country.
The performances on 26 May in Nuremberg and on 29 May in Erlangen will be followed by artist talks in English.
Besides “Rima Kamel” Rabih Mroué will also present his Lecture-Performance “Sand in the Eyes” about the mechanisms and instrumentalisation of violence, martyr-cult and political propaganda.
