“Remote Erlangen” lays a trail through the city for a swarm of 50 people. It composes a soundtrack of streets, shopping malls, churches and backyards. A synthetic voice in our headphones (the kind heard on GPS navigators or over airport announcements) directs the movements. Artificial intelligence explores unknown territories, mustering human activity from a remote perspective. And yet the voice sounds ever more human to us as we progress, while in the eyes of passers-by our remotely controlled horde starts to look like a kind of alien entity.
Note: The tour does not start and end at the same place. Please arrive at the starting point at least 15 minutes earlier (Altstädter Friedhof, Kapelle, Münchener Str., 91054 Erlangen). Please bring an identity document as deposit for the headphones. The event involves extended walking and is not suitable for people with walking impairments.
