Compagnie 1001 (IR/FR)
L’ivresse des profondeurs [Tiefenrausch]
#GlobalePerspektiven
Euphoria, confusion, blurred vision, unconsciousness, fear, hallucinations, clouded judgment – rapture of the deep is a condition that can overtake divers at great depths and prevent them from making the right decisions in time to put themselves out of mortal danger. To prevent this, it is said, one must communicate with others in order not to sink completely into the loneliness in which time seems to shrink. Iranian puppeteer Sayeh Sirvani tells stories of people in weightlessness, whose roots have been cut, who have had to leave their homeland. Their voices come from the depths of a country, they tell of displacement and the difficult decision to leave or stay, of choosing a place to live.
Created in 2021 in Charlevile-Mézières, Compagnie 1001 combines puppet theatre with the art of storytelling. Inspired by Persian culture and its fairy tales, Cie 1001 reflects political themes with a powerful poetic visual language. “L’ivresse des profondeurs” (Rapture of the Deep) is shaped by the history of Iran and refers to the suppressed protests of 2019, which claimed many victims.
The performance will be followed by an artist talk.
