double-Diskurs: Puppets of Color und Buch-Preview
The editors of the magazine for puppet, figure and object theatre call their panel series “double-Diskurs”. The discussions deal with developments in the genre. This year, based on the current topic of the magazine, audience members and invited guests will meet with double authors to discuss postcolonial and anti-racist approaches in puppet theatre. What racist stereotypes and hurtful representations exist in puppet theatre? How can they be reflected appropriately and counteracted in a committed way? What possibilities are there for anti-racist (re)presentations in theatre and museums? In the case of discriminatory objects, the question remains whether it is really necessary to continue exhibiting them or to bring them on stage. How is it possible not to reproduce the “white gaze”? How can stereotypes be broken down?
The twelfth double discourse will be hosted by editorial board members Mascha Erbelding and Meike Wagner – panel participants:
Antonio Cerezo – KMZ Kollektiv, Berlin
Mascha Eckert – Toy Museum, Nürnberg
Pauline Kalker – Hotel Modern, Netherlands
Atif Mohammed Nour Hussein – Puppet builder, Scenographer, Director, Berlin (digitally connected)
The panel is followed by a short preview of a book about the international figuren.theater.festival, which will be published by Theater der Zeit.
