Die letzten 23 Tage der Plüm
Based on the comic by Katharina Greve
A pink dot is approaching the planet Plümos – the impact threatens to destroy it. But don’t panic! The Plüm still have 23 days to avert the disaster. The Plüm are asexual cephalopods; they reproduce by division, similar to bacteria on Earth. They are quite unambitious and like to live for the day. Faced with the approaching catastrophe, they alternate between lethargy and actionism, between hanging heads and panic attacks. But after the first failed rescue attempts, the Plüm return to what they do best: Drinking Summerling.
Inspired by the comic by Max and Moritz Prize-winning artist Katharina Greve, Kaufmann & Co. use absurd and paradoxical means to develop a ludicrous panorama of all-too-human inability. “A satirical, but by no means didactic parable on human crisis management”, says Martina Knoben about the comic in the Süddeutsche Zeitung.
Alexandra Kaufmann and Eva Kaufmann studied puppetry at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts in Berlin and were already guests at the international figuren.theater.festival as students. They founded their company Kaufmann & Co in 2005 and have been an integral part of the German puppet theatre scene ever since. Their latest production will premiere at the Schaubude in Berlin just a few days before the festival.
