Spielplatz Everest
The first Punch on the summit of Mount Everest!
Gerda and Michaela dream of being the first puppeteers to perform a Punch and Judy show on the summit of Mount Everest. But physical and financial shortcomings make a climb impossible. With a fake documentary film about their summit attempt, they want to draw attention to themselves and their art. In the process, they themselves succumb to their deception and get into unexpected trouble shortly before the summit.
In unusual combinations of acting, puppet and object theatre, Alexandra and Eva Kaufmann humorously create surprising fake videos and show the excesses of mass tourism.
“Highly creative play with objects, pleasure in revealing and concealing illusion: ‘Playground Everest’ by Alexandra and Eva Kaufmann is meta-puppet theatre … As a deconstruction of the illusionary character of puppetry, ‘Playground Everest’ is thus worth seeing across the board, especially since Alexandra and Eva Kaufmann charge the original basic idea with playfulness and nonchalance of content.” (Fidena, The Current Review)
Kaufmann & Co. also present their children’s production “Drei kleine Schweinchen” on 13 May at the Kulturforum Fürth.
