This is an invitation. Will you accept it?
A phone call – two nameless strangers, a carefully crafted set of directives … A figure, a picture, a portrait of another person emerges through fleeting moments of exposure and the simple sound of an unseen voice.
A THOUSAND WAYS is a treasure hunt, a theatrical experience and social experiment. It is an intimate encounter in times of social distancing and an offer to explore kinship and proximity despite strangeness and distance. Surprising and fascinating, how listening can become profoundly radical.
The American theatre makers Abigail Browde and Michael Silverstone are behind 600 Highwaymen. Their exceptional and award-winning projects challenge the very definition of theatre and the relation between performers and the audience. Their interactive live art exists at the intersection of theatre, dance and contemporary performance and revolves around the same curiosity: what occurs in the live encounter between people.
The first part of the production A THOUSAND WAYS takes place via phone, the second part is a live encounter that you will be invited to in the future. Both parts can be experienced independently.
A THOUSAND WAYS (Part One): A Phone Call is designed as a meeting between strangers. Please note this when purchasing tickets. You will receive further information about the encounter, once you have ordered your ticket.
A THOUSAND WAYS (Part One): A Phone Call is a unique telephone encounter that you can also take part in outside of Germany. On request, the production can be presented in English. If you wish to participate in English please contact us at ATW[at]figurentheaterfestival.de before purchasing tickets.
